On May 21st 1498, Vasco da Gama arrived at Calicut after the first sea voyage from Europe to Asia and the trade history of India started.

The trade routes in the world history were marked for the trade business the European countries were having those days. These paths were the gateways for the spices from India and its neighbors. You can look to the historic silk and trade route which connected India to the outer business world in the modern historical time.

Now, of the total spice production in the East, 86% is from India, 5% is from China, 3% from Bangladesh, 2% from Pakistan, 1% from Nepal and the rest of 3% from other countries, according to an estimate of the FAO.
