International Food

India is now home to many International food chains

India, where the food market is driven by about 700 million people who are less than 30 yrs of age, is growing home to international fast food chains like McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Subway etc. People visit in huge numbers to get a taste of some of the most popular serves like Pizza, Burger, French Fries, Combo Meals, Milk Shakes, Hot Chocolate Fudge etc.

McDonalds is probably the most popular chain in India. The other international chain of restaurants and cuisines which are appealing to the Indian taste too are KFC, Pizza Hut, Subway, Dominos Pizza etc. The outlets try their best to focus on the hygiene conditions and thereby provide clean toilets and seating arrangements. These food chains also provide home delivery services within a particular distance.

Snacks are one of the most preferred delicacies in India. The menus of these restaurants have been changed to accommodate Indian favorites for example onion, garlic, Indian version of cottage cheese etc. Indians like to have food, which is spicier. They limit themselves to Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian favorites.

In India, eating out has always been driven by occasions. But the occasion-driven eating out is now changing to necessity-driven eating out. Growing number of nuclear families and chaotic work schedules are helping the food chains gain popularity in a country where traditional curries have reigned for decades.

Most of the food chains in India cater to the urban and cosmopolitan population which has a high standard of living. With the increase in the consumer base and the change in the food habits, especially in the urban areas, these types of foreign companies and food chains are expanding their market in the country with their food and snacks products.

The existing ones like McDonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC, Dominos etc, are expanding at a rapid pace. Fascinated by the enormous financial gain and expanding market, several U.S. based food chains like Denny’s Corp, Wendy’s, Pollo Tropical, and CKE Restaurants visited major cities in the country to look for franchise partners.
